Οι δύο ντίβες συγκέντρωσαν τις περισσότερες υποψηφιότητες για τα «Όσκαρ» της μουσικής βιομηχανίας.

Η Beyoncé είναι για άλλη μια φορά η βασίλισσα των βραβείων Grammy, μιας και συγκέντρωσε εννιά υποψηφιότητες, ανάμεσα τους αυτές για το «Άλμπουμ της Χρονιάς» για το «Lemonade», «Τραγούδι της Χρονιάς» για το «Formation», το οποίο είναι επίσης υποψήφιο για καλύτερο videoclip. Το πόσο ευρεία απήχηση είχε το «Lemonade» είναι εμφανές και από το γεγονός ότι η Beyoncé είναι υποψήφια για τις κατηγορίες «Best Pop Solo Performance («Hold up»)», «Best Urban Comtemporary Album», «Best Rap/Sung Performance («Freedom»), αλλά και «Best Rock Performance («Don’t Hurt Yourself»).

Από την άλλη, η Adele είναι υποψήφια σε πέντε κατηγορίες, ανάμεσα τους και αυτή για το «Αλμπουμ της Χρονιάς», για το «25», και «Τραγούδι της Χρονιάς» για το «Hello».

Οι δυο τραγουδίστριες, που είναι οι μόνες που κατάφεραν να είναι υποψήφιες για τα τρία βασικά βραβεία, θα κονταροχτυπηθούν σε αυτές τις σημαντικές κατηγορίες με τους Justin Bieber,(«Purpose»), Drake («Drake») και τον Sturgill Simpson («Α Sailor’s Guide to Earth»). Οι Rihanna, Twenty One Pilots και ο Bieber διεκδικούν επίσης το βραβείο για το καλύτερο τραγούδι της χρονιάς.

Μεγάλοι απόντες από τις λίστες των υποψηφίων είναι ο Kanye West, που το «Life of Pablo» δεν κατάφερε να μπει στις σημαντικές κατηγορίες,ενώ επίσης είναι ηχηρή η απουσία του «Blackstar» του David Bowie, από την κατηγορία του «Άλμπουμ της Χρονιάς», συγκεντρώνοντας μόνο τέσσερις υποψηφιότητες.

H τελετή θα λάβει χώρα στις 12 Φεβρουαρίου και παρουσιαστής θα είναι ο James Corden.
